Not to sound like a commercial or anything, but...

Okay, for the last 6 months or so, people have been telling me that my auto insurance is screwing me over. (I just thought Connecticut rates were that much higher than Ohio's.)

So, I finally went looking. My parents have had State Farm insurance for as long as I can remember. Their quote was about $400 less a year than mine--and they also informed me that I wasn't being offered their best rate because of my credit rating.

Hell, I know I have poor credit. If that was part of the reason my other insurance was so fucking high (I know other people who've insured two new cars for as much as my '93 rust bucket... hell, Lori's insuring four cars for the same amount), it would have been nice to be told that.

Then, what the hell, I tried Geico. $1000 less a year. O_O

Okay. I'm certain that their service is probably not as great if you do actually have to make a claim, but all I want is to be able to drive legally.

I really don't understand how the rates can be that different (for the same coverage levels).
