Unforgiveable metaphor offense

In the very next sex scene after the dairy-metaphor sex scene:
Draco's robes wavered about him and collapsed suddenly to the sides, lying like the shriveled skin of a worm. Harry only had enough time to blink and wonder why that simile had occurred to him before Draco grabbed him in turn and wrestled him to the bed. [emphasis mine]

This author is prolific. Writes lots of epic-length fics and I think well of her for being a prolific ff.net author who doesn't do all the insanely annoying every chapter author's notes of DOOM as so many prolific ff.net authors do. (And I really enjoyed some of her fics.)

I think this point may be where I can't read her fics in a positive light anymore. Because I can no longer think things like "Oh, she's just so happily writing away that she hasn't realized just how weird that dairy metaphor was." No. Now I'm convinced she's way too involved with her metaphors and writing really freaking bizarre and unappealing ones because she thinks she's clever. Ugh.
