Oh boy! Automated database software updates! My favorite!
That just Pac Man'd a good 20 minutes of my time between multiple reboots and a slow install.
Now it is just a slow and steady day of checking my work. Everything that can be done, has been done, and since I haven't had a back checker, I am going to be my own.
(Which I don't like, checking my own work makes me nervous because I could miss something twice a bit more easily)
Anyway!

Why is it that the people who "didn't realize the deadlines have passed" all seem to call immediately after the deadlines pass?
Why is it they ask for exceptions because "they didn't know"?

Must be that kind of morning, I got a call from a Robo-B.
I can tell folks are being sketchy when they don't give their name when asked, but give their student ID and say they will only speak to one person.
The then rattled off their phone number like a micro machines commercial and became audibly annoyed when I asked her to repeat it slower.
I'm extremely good at reading tone (in speech and body language) ... and I can detect a jerk subconsciously and... as it turns out, I was right.
My boss called her back, the issue was with a scholarship, she had explained everything yesterday, all the math, everything that went into how much it was and what was and wasn't covered.
For whatever reason, Robo B decided that it was wrong. So, I went over it with my boss to make sure she had not made a mistake. She did not. Robo B was upset that she was "getting less" and was demanded a detailed bill. All the information is available online, which my boss told her, and she was discontent but that was it.
Ahh, the sheer arrogance of some people. The expectation.
Yesterday I got bitched out by some idiot claiming that they wouldn't "have enough to eat now" because their scholarship was less than they thought.
Okay, buddy...
1.) You received over $20,000 in financial aid including this reduced scholarship.
2.) The organization sponsoring the scholarship gave you the award, not us. If you have a problem with them subtracting 25% of your grants from your spring award, you are welcome to decline the $2000 you did get, and the $5000 you got in the Fall.
3.) 1 + 2 ... If you TRULY can't eat (which I think is B.S.), it's your own damned fault for not managing your money properly. Most students make it by on much less. Next time try not buying $5,000 rims or a $2,000 diamond encrusted hula hoop or whatever you kids are buying these days.
Grumble, grumble.
It's the EXPECTATION of some of these people. If they read the documents that they agreed to, if they actually took the two seconds to see what their award covers (they get a letter) ... we'd get a good 25% fewer calls per semester, bare minimum.
Ugh.

Time jump! Woo!
A bit of running around and questions and answers and such.
I've been in a weird mood this week. Good, but weird.
I'm still dizzy. I suspect there is something wrong since it's been awhile. It's very mild, it only seems to make my awareness when I am sitting doing something or when I am about to go to sleep, and sometimes when I finish walking...
I've also had mild headaches every day this week (since Sunday, really) ... so I am not sure what the deal is.
