I am participating in the
Discovery Health National Body Challenge for 8 weeks, thru March 11. It actually started on 1/14; but I didn't register until this Tues.
i get an 8-week pass to Bally Total Fitness, plus register online for activity and weight tracking; a weekly meal planner, exercise tips, etc. Tues I did a quick and easy cardio; 20 min on Stationary Bike and 10 min on Treadmill. The scary thing about being on the treadmill is, the girl next to me was running... and that something inside of me wanted ot pace her, I wanted to run. I know I'm not physically up to running yet... but there's something in me that desperately wants to run. Its been there for awhile... sometimes when i'm walking i just get this urge to run.
as such, one of my 3-part goal is to be able to run in the
Chase Corporate Challenge in June. Not walk, or walk-and-run... but run the whole dang thing (3.5 mi / 5K, if i'm not mistaken). I may chicken out between now and June; or may not be up to 3.5 mi... but i'm sure as hell gonna try.
Last night they had a group fitness thing for the Discovery peoples, they called it SBGT Demo. I don't know what the S, B and G stand for; but I bet the T stands for TORTURE. It was a cardio circuit from HELL... 3 stations were set up... Medicine Balls/Weight, Steps, and Dumbbells. we jogged from station to station and did 30-45 sec of exercises on each station. There were lots of squats involved. at one point we were doing lateral raises with the dumbbells while doing front leg lifts... and i lifted my left leg and my butt caught fire... well, not really; but a got a nasty pull in my left glut. it pulled so badly it felt like it was burning; i was afraid i'd torn something.
of course, the trainers had no mercy... "c'mon keep running keep going move it move it" But hey, that's what my lazy ass needs. I made it through... in some areas just barely... but I made it. Someone is supposed to call me to set up an appt to meet with a trainer to devise a workout plan based on my goals. I may stick with it after 8 weeks... its nice to be on a treadmill that doesn't require me supporting 1/3 of the weight :P
