Europa Cantat

So, I'm in Utrecht, since yesterday, for Europa Cantat! I'm staying at my friend Eva's place (I'm so happy about that! She lives a mere 5-minutes bus ride from Utrecht central station! Oh, and she has 4 guinea pigs!!) and today was the first 'real' festival day. Which means: rehearsals for the choir workshop I'm in (concert is next Thursday afternoon), crappy festival food and several nice concerts! Today I went to the Opening Ceremony. At first I wasn't planning on going, because Gerard was going to visit me in the evening, but we decided to meet up in the afternoon and have dinner together so I could go see the concert.

The Opening Ceremony was GREAT. Really, I was so impressed! The music was great, the choirs/acts all very different and all equally good and the jokes were actually funny! I took my friend Ron to this concert (he is not an Europa Cantat participant but I sneaked him in with a spare ticket I had) and he has enjoyed himself as well! Afterwards we went to the Domplein, because there was some stuff going on as well, but it wasn't that great so we ended up in a cafe drinking melon juice (yeah, that was weird - but good-weird!) and eating bitterballen ^^. Despite the fact that I really had to get used to being so much on my own (there are hardly any people I know there, and the lunch breaks are LONG), I had a lovely day! I'll keep you posted :).
