Writing again!

May 19, 2011 02:03

Hi guys. I did have my 24th birthday last week, I got some wonderful gifts and such. I usually make some entry close to my birthday, but I've been so busy.

As I mentioned in my last entry, I have been searching for a job, and I have a job interview this Friday! Wish me luck :D

As you may have noticed, brand new userpic! It is by the lovely and talented zarahjoyce. I don't know what it is and I'll talk about this again at a later date, but I didn't watch much of Goseiger at all - however, I am all wrapped up in Gokaiger and am always anticipating the newest subs to come out. But like I said, that's another entry altogether.

Anyway, I bring a fic with me. I apologize for the length - I've been writing for the better part of 2 hours and it was 4 pages long in Word, one of the longer ones I can remember writing. And while the fic features the pairing of Joe/Ahim, I am aware that my new icon is Marvelous/Ahim - in general, I feel like these two so far have more chemistry on the show, since half the time they seem to be setting up Joe/Luka. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and please comment!

Now that that's done, I'm going to sleep, as it is just after 2 in the morning where I am.

Title: Te wo Tsunaginagara
Author: Lauren, or lkwreader
Fandom: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
Pairing: Ahim de Famille & Joe Gibken, a little, tiny bit of Marvelous/Joe (only because it’s impossible not to see it sometimes).
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Nothing from Gokaiger belongs to me. It all belongs to Toei.
Warnings: none.
Summary: Joe & Ahim’s initial views of each other begin to change as events unfold around them.
Notes: Refers to events that took place in Episode 4. Te wo Tsunaginagara means Holding onto my Hand. It is the title of SKE48 (a subgroup of AKB48) Team S’s Second Stage. To read the lyrics and understand the song better, the lyrics have been translated here: http://stage48.net/studio48/tewotsunaginagara.html This is primarily written from Ahim’s perspective, however, a line a of dashes means that the perspective has switched. Goes with the flow of the episode, adding dialogue to scenes with Joe & Ahim. I apologize for the length; its 4 pages typed out in Word, probably one of the longer things I’ve written.

Ahim was the first to admit it - she was still new to the life of a pirate. It had only been a month since Marvelous-san, Luka, Don & Joe - but mostly Marvelous-san - had rescued her from the remains of her planet and brought her aboard the Gokai Galleon.

If Ahim was being honest with herself, she kind of enjoyed not being known as ‘The Princess’ anymore. Not to say that she didn’t miss her family or people from the palace, but it was a lot of weight off of her shoulders. While a princess, she wasn’t allowed to ask questions or have opinions that weren’t expected of her. It had been very restrictive, yet she was saddened by the fact that now she was all that was left of her home world. Aboard the Galleon, she was allowed to ask questions and have opinions that might be unpopular with the others. She valued all of her teammates, after all, they were becoming a family - and all of hers was gone forever.

Doc was almost like a father figure to her, being able to explain the other’s reactions to her, since she was not privy to why they might react negatively to certain things. Luka reminded her very much of her best friend Yuko, who she had lost during the conflict. Marvelous-san was like an older brother - albeit he was very blunt and seemed arrogant at times, although she knew by now that he was not really that way. That left Joe, who she had a hard time classifying. Joe was usually aloof, but he had his moments where he completely defied her expectations of him - especially when Doc had told her that he used to work for the Zangyack.

She had been hurt when Joe had tossed away her suggestion that instead of two swords being better than one, two people would be better than one alone. However he had scoffed at her and asked her to leave him be, a polite request - although she could see the frustration on her face.

----------------------------------

Joe didn’t know why he felt the way he did. If it had been up to him, they would have never taken Ahim aboard. She was the princess of a destroyed planet, probably didn’t have any fight or sword training and probably couldn’t protect herself from a fly. If he had a choice, it would just be him and Marvelous.

However, in the short time since Ahim had joined them, he had been pleasantly surprised. She was more than capable at defending herself and although her swordsmanship left much to be desired - he only thought of this since it was his main skill and his initial impression of a person depended on how they handled a sword - she could watch over herself in a fight and did not need to rely on the others to protect her.

But he had been so frustrated since the last battle. He prided himself on being an excellent swordsman, second only to his late sempai and to be beat was not an easy thing to accept. He hadn’t meant to push her away - she was only trying to help him. As Joe stood in the forest, he reflected on his tendency to let his stubbornness and pride get the better of him. He had been as polite as he could under the circumstances, but his determination not to be beat was clouding his judgment. Recalling her walking away, he cursed silently under his breath for coming off so rude when he had not been frustrated with her, but with the situation at hand. He only hoped that she would be able to understand his feelings someday.

----------------------------------------

Ahim had rushed straight to the others for answers, specifically telling Marvelous-san what had happened, but the only thing she’d gotten out of him was that Joe wanted to be the one to defeat the monster. She was perfectly capable of knowing that herself and she stomped away, not getting the answer or advice she had hoped for.

After talking to Luka though, she understood that maybe Joe wasn’t ready to share his entire past with her, even though a small part of her longed to be able to help him work through it. That thought surprised her - even though she had harbored a small crush on Joe the first time they met, she had thought it had faded away. Apparently not, she thought to herself. Joe was her trusted friend and if she ever hoped to be something more, she must trust him to do what he needed to do. That’s why she walked wordlessly to him, pulling her sword out so he would have two proper swords to dual with. The look in his eyes thanked her for not questioning him further, yet there were still walls.

She had followed him to the beach where he was to have his duel and hid silently for a while. However, when the monster had blades burst out from his body, she jumped out, outraged at the blatant cheating. Joe was lying on the ground, looking defenseless - though she knew he was far from out of the battle. She looked at him and even through the helmet could tell that he was surprised she had followed him here. She wasted no more time running forward and calling forth the GokaiPink suit.

-----------------------------------
Joe’s eyes widened a bit behind his helmet when he heard Ahim pop out from behind the boulder. He had intended to do this by himself and he didn’t want her to end up in the line of fire, though his head reminded him that she was more than capable of taking care of herself. But he didn’t want her to get hurt. As much as Joe tried to not become too attached to his teammates, it had not gone unnoticed to him that he had been developing a soft spot for Ahim, especially over the past few days and while aboard the Galleon, he more than once had to restrain himself from staring obviously at her.

Seeing her, he got up, determined to end this fight before anyone ended up hurt because of his actions.

-------------After the Battle is Over (still Joe’s Pov) --------------------------

He strayed into the kitchen after arriving on the ship, intent on making something for his teammates - though it was more for Ahim than anyone else, not that he’d ever say that aloud - and thanking them for letting him fight his own battle. It was a simple cake, but he put lots of strawberries around the edge since he knew they were her favorite fruit. Smiling, he frowned momentarily and forced himself to ignore the image his brain was projecting - a strawberry between her lips and the blissful expression on her face as she carefully chewed it.

-----------------------------------------------

Ahim had wanted to talk to Joe after the battle, about more than just apologizing for pressing him, but he disappeared and she decided to give him so privacy. Being honest with herself, she found herself attracted to Joe - the way he had a chivalry to him, the way he was honest about his opinions and the way he always protected his teammates, whether they needed it or not. Even his hair - longer than hers and she was not used to long hair on men - only added to his roguish look and charm.

She was pleasantly surprised when he came out to the main room, bearing a cake, a beautiful thing, with ‘Thank You’ written in good English, and strawberries lining most of the edge of the cake. She had decided to get tea to go with their cake, but made a detour to talk to him first, since the others had teased him and he had turned away from them.

“Joe-san”, she said, tilting her head to look up at him, “I am deeply sorry that I was not understanding of your desire to be left alone before. I should have not pressed the matter - I just wish you were willing to let us help you more - you don’t have to do everything by yourself.”

Joe smiled back at her. “I’ll try to not be so stubborn in the future, but no promises,” he said, and she could see a mischievous sparkle twinkling in his eye.

Ahim smiled widely, thankful to have not made a scene and not yet attracted the attention of the others. Even as a princess, she had always been impulsive and before her brain could wrap itself around the idea fully, she had leaned upwards and her lips touched his. It was a gentle kiss, yet she could feel him kissing her back as his hands went into her hair.

She pulled away, not wanting to do anything too serious at first, but her impulsive nature kicked in again and she reached a finger up to clean off a bit of frosting that was on the tip of his nose, and then stuck the finger in her mouth, smiling impishly and glad to see him smiling back at her.

When he reached forward to pull her towards him, their lips met in another kiss, sweet as the first one had been, but with a little more passion to it. When they pulled apart, he said “Let me help you with that tea.”

“That would be very nice of you,” she said, her smile only widening when he reached his hand down to hold hers, surprised at how small her had was compared to his and how it almost disappeared in his grasp. The both of them smiling, they made their way to the kitchen area, not knowing how this relationship would progress, but both looking forward to the possibilities that lay ahead of them.
