Title: Under Dire Circumstances

Chip sighed to himself. All the others had gone home already. Udonna had wanted to expand his horizons, so she was having him basic elemental charms from all 5 elements, not just his own.
“Well Chip, have you learned anything?” Udonna asked.
“Just this,” Chip said, as he concentrated and a small stream of water flowed out of his wand.
“Good, Chip,” Udonna said, watching as Chip smiled at the praise. “You never know when that may come in handy.”
“All right, see you tomorrow,” Chip replied as he gathered his stuff and left Rootcore to head for home.

Chip sighed again the next day. He and Vida were out battling a group of Hideacs. It was only him and Vida, as Madison, Nick & Xander were working and couldn’t get away without making Toby suspicious. Chip wondered briefly why there wasn’t a monster there with the foot soldiers, but he abandoned that thought as a Hideac tried to chop off his arm.
Chip kept his eye on Vida as she fought many Hideacs at once. He watched carefully as a Hideac fired at Vida, and the explosion caught her off guard. She fell down and wasn’t moving, which was bad as a small ring of fire was surrounding her and Chip was paralyzed to his spot as he watched the fire grow rapidly. What do I do? None of our elements would work here; only Maddie’s could help but she’s not here! Chip focused and thought to himself I know I’m a yellow magician and not a blue one, but please work!
“Water Spray!” Chip shouted as he pointed his MagiStaff at the fire and was relieved when he was able to put it up.
“V! Are you okay?” Chip called as he saw Vida standing unmorped. He ran over to her and asked again “Are you okay?”
Vida didn’t respond, but simply leaned over and kissed his cheek. “Thanks for saving me, Chip,” she said, and then walked back to the RockPorium.
“Guess those basic elemental spells came in handy after all,” Chip said aloud, smiling as he followed Vida back to the RockPorium. If he had to say so, Chip was proud of himself than he had ever been before.
