It's been years since I last posted in my own journal, what a shame! =__=;
Although most of my personal LJ is dedicated to Get Backers, my GB muse has been hibernating, so here's my most active fandom at the moment: Hetalia!
Title: Major Arcana - The Fool (1/22)
Author:
lksugui Characters/Pairings: Korea, Japan
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 for a bit of violence. For this series, Japan is initially represented as twins (Kiku and Sakura). Wiki-based history research (sorry, but that's the only tool I have at hand now...). English is not my mother tongue so there might be odd sentence constructions and/or vocabulary usage.
Summary: Korea is playing with fire.
Notes: This is part of a project based on Tarot cards. Twenty-two drabbles/shortfics, each one related to one major arcana (main cards) of a Tarot deck.
00 - The Fool (a warning that significant change is coming - taking risks)
Korea, Japan
1920 - 1940
Many would call Yong Soo insane after watching him being scolded, yelled at and beaten every time he glomped one of his siblings, especially Kiku and Sakura.
It was not that Yong Soo didn't notice the dark, murderous glint in Kiku's eyes or the growing alarm with which Sakura begged him to please, please, stop, it's dangerous. It was not that he couldn't feel the tension, the fear, and the cold fury building up in the Japanese twins.
No, it wasn't that he couldn't.
He just didn't want to.

01 - The Magician (someone who brings about change or transformation - the intoxication of power, good or bad)
America, Japan
1945
Sakura had no more tears to cry. She could only sob as she felt death, destruction and despair taking over her country. When her agonizing brother stood up and drew his katana for one last charge, she could only shake her head, no, please, no more.
She heard steps. Heavy, noisy, stomping on the rubble, breaking burnt wood and slipping on the dirt. It was Alfred. For a moment he stared at Kiku with strangely expressionless eyes - such novelty it was to see those blue orbs stripped of any emotion (they used to be perpetually dancing and shining like little children). Kiku screamed and raised his katana.
There was a single shot. The sound strangely echoed above the roaring fire, the explosions, the cries of both civilians and soldiers. Then, Alfred turned to a shell-shocked Sakura and offered his hand.
“War's over. Let's stop this insanity”, he said, and his eyes were dancing and shining again.
