Well, I'm home from an amazing weekend in NYC with
jessruth. We had such a wonderful time together which would not have been possible without the talented and remarkable Kate Mulgrew. It is almost incomprehensible that someone I didn't even know only eight months ago could now be such an integral part of my life.
We had an amazing three days of food, videos, snow, and fun. I cannot wait until we are able to see each other again!
jessruth took me to Josie's for the most amazing food I've ever had. A definite new favorite in the Big Apple (pie). Although we struck out for lottery tickets to Wicked and Avenue Q, we found plenty to do. So many Voyager and Ryan's Hope episodes to watch! What's a girl to do? I so enjoyed meeting her mother who is a fabulous woman. I had fun in the snow, for about 10 minutes. Then I was able to say "damn it's snowing again" with the best of 'em. We sloshed and slid our way through Manhattan, making memories and sealing a growing bond of friendship.
When I got home there were phone messages which I returned. A childhood friend is getting married. We're only 9 months apart in age and were in the same play group together. I am so happy for her. She has had a rough time of it lately. Her mother had liver cancer which is now back. But, she's a strong woman and will make it. I talked with my college roommate. Another bond that remains strong across distance and time. I spoke with mom and my "friend who is a boy", Chad. I hate the term "boyfriend". It reminds me of high school, which I hated for the most part. However, I am overjoyed that I finally have someone to fit that part. He wants me to meet his parents. I don't know if that's still a big step or if I'm stuck in "Donna Reed land", but there it is.
I'm going to bed now. New resolution: Make a concerted effort to add LJ to my routine.
