Judy has published a billion books, mostly sci-fi, as Jude Watson. I think it's really cool that the first book published using her real name won the NBA. My son read a bunch of her Star Wars prequels a few years ago. They were surprisingly good.....

Thanks for this, Laurie. I was curious. My daughter reads tons of Star Wars -- I'll ask her if she's read any of Judy's.

(Missed your husband at NCTE. I hope you did all right with the kids!)

The turkey's been in the fridge since Monday, and I think I'll still end up sticking it in water to make sure it defrosts on time. Last year, I was rinsing out the cavity to get rid of ice crystals on Thanksgiving Day. I had a whole debate with my mother about whether candied yams were actually needed, when we already had mashed potatoes . . . then, I made some yams for my husband's office Thanksgiving dinner, and both kids declared they had to have them.

Some people only like cranberry sauce if it has that can pattern on it. Happy Thanksgiving.

It seems like I end up giving the turkey a bath every year. They take sooo long to defrost.

Yeah, I think my husband is secretly mourning the yams with their silly, tiny marshmallows - maybe I'll make some next week for him. He's fine with the slidey version of cranberry sauce, though. :)
