Hiya. I know this isn't really a support forum for Semagic, but I was hoping you'd be able to help me out here anyway. This also might be a bug, I'm not sure:

I use iTunes, and prior to installing Winamp I had Semagic detecting the music I was playing just fine. Now it doesn't, and in the status bar it says "Player: Winamp" when I try to detect. That's not my music player, and it's not even installed anymore. How can I fix this?

that means that plugin in itunes for music detection emulates winamp so old clients that supported only winamp can detect music in itunes. the error it only if it does not detect music.

It isn't detecting anything.

disable detection via plugin in options/music in semagic and enable via com. get the latest release if that will not help http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=84783

I wasn't using the plug in before, I was using COM. It's still not working now.

(Please don't think I'm ungrateful, I love Semagic and your work on it! I'm just confused as to why this is happening. Off the top of my head, I've also tried reinstalling iTunes.)

"winamp" cannot appear by itself, it is either from real winamp that it running somewhere in background or from plugin in itunes. if you upgraded itunes the com interface may not work so take the latest release of semagic. also uninstall plugin from itunes.

Winamp is definitely not running, it's been uninstalled. I updated to the latest release of Semagic. How do I uninstall the plug in from iTunes?

there is a plugin folder in program files/itunes, exit the player and delete currentplayng.dll. Make sure you have itunes >4.5, otherwise com interface won't work.

No dll file by that name or anything similar to it was found in that folder, and I'm running the latest release of iTunes (I believe 4.7.1 for Windows).

take this:
http://semagic.sourceforge.net/Semagicfor2k.exe
now check for iTunes is performed before Winamp so if there is a track playing in itunes it will be detected first. if it does not that means that itunes com interface does not work for you, maybe reinstall of itunes will help but i won't.
