The latest release of the client has auto spellchecker which automatically highlights misspelled words like in MS Word. Right click on underlined word for a list of suggestions or to add it to dictionary. Currently it works only in WYSIWYG editing mode and should be explicitly turned on in Options. IE 5.5 or above should be installed on your ( Read more... )

You should activate internal spellchecker and specify dictionaries

you should activate auto spellchecker in options. To manually highlight press Ctrl+F7

that not an option under options and ctrl+f7 does nothing for me.

you should use the latest release. that option is in the spelling options after selection of MySpell/ MSWord

Did you go to the Spellcheck tab of the options and checkmark "Auto spellchecking" at the bottom? Also, the red underline doesn't stand out very visibly, so it's possible you just aren't seeing it. Or, it's possible you're just an excellent speller and the auto spell checker hadn't had any reason to underline anything. It can take a second for the underline to pop up, although that could just be due to my slow 250 Mhz processor and maybe it's faster on other pcs.
There's also always the possibility Cancel was pressed accidentally, so I'd also recommend double-checking the Spellcheck tab just to be sure the change stuck.

I'm having the same problem. I've enabled spell-checking, downloaded dictionaries and it's still not highlighting misspelled words.

in the spell options there are options to: auto check entry before posting, MySpell/MsWord, auto spellcheck before posting. you should enable the last one, Myspell and enable particular dictionaries.

It only works in WYSIWYG mode, not HTML mode which is probably the problem he's having.

Ah! I, too, was having the same problem, but you are indeed correct about this! I wasn't seeing any red-underscoring, but that's because I use HTML mode. As soon as I tried your suggestion and switched to WYSIWYG mode, voila!

Any way you could extend the spellchecker to HTML mode? :)

Thanks. And by the way, I just realized how much of an idiot I was...Somehow I missed the word "only" before "WYSIWYG mode" in your original post, and it made me think that you had EXTENDED it to that mode, not that it was only working in that mode.

My apologies for my stupidity. I'll mark it down as one of my yearly allowances of blonde moments.
