Semagic on Mac

There may be a reason why only few people used Semagic on Mac: WINE needed Xcode to be installed. It is 4GB in size. I installed it but then standard instructions did not work for me and Semagic was not working.
Also I installed Winebottler but it did not install ie6 which is required for WYSIWYG editor.
Then I found PlayOnMac and it seem to work ( Read more... )

Hello! I've been using Semagic for years to update my LJ and I love it. Today I started having problems signing on with my Semagic and I'm afraid I don't understand the error message. I've been retrying for hours. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled the lastest version of Semagic. No matter what I try to do, I get this page: 405 Not Allowed and this image:

Many users report the same, that is a LJ error

Oh I am glad to find this message. I also have used Semagic for years and suddenly I got this same error. As Windows had just had a major update overnight clearing all my cookies I didn't know if it was this causing the problem.

I did skip the Login so I can at least compose in Semagic but it still came up as an error. Do you suggest we report to Support or will they sort it out on their own?

There are a lot of requests there since yesterday

I'm going to see if I can find help through LJ support or see if there's already a thread going about it. I'll comment and let everyone know if I find a solution.

Thank you. Part of my problem was not knowing where the error was coming from and what server it was talking about.

I'm having the same problem too. I'm lost without my Semagic.

I just tried and it works. Maybe that depends on the particular server cluster the user is at. Try to press skip login, maybe it will allow to post anyway.

Must be the cluster I'm on. I'm still getting the same error. Last night I did try making a post by skipping log on and it placed my post in some queue. Now I can't find that post at all.

Off to try and find help at LJ support I guess.

Queue in in Journal/Queue. One support request got an answer that it is resolved but other requests appeared after that. It was working for me but now it does not.

I also submitted a support request, no answer on mine as of yet. I did find out it has to do with proxy and lan settings but I have no idea what that has to do with the current problem. Here's the link to what I read: http://howto.livejournal.com/23617.html but I don't understand a thing about Lan & Proxy settings.

No, that is an LJ error. It works for me randomly, after several tries. I guess that is not user cluster but particular web server the request goes through each time, it is chosen randomly, or something like this. We have to wait.

This is the answer I received from LJ Support:

"Thank you for your report. Our operations team is aware of this problem, and they are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. I apologize for any inconvenience."

So you're right. It is indeed an LJ error. Thanks for all your help. :)

Do you know if anyone's reported it to LJ or have you seen anything in a support thread maybe? I'm lost too. :/

I reported it and they said the 405 error was resolved, but it's not. I'm still having problems submitting a post. I've seen others reporting it on the support board, but I don't know if anyone has any answers. I didn't realize how dependent I was on Semagic!
