"What would Hannibal Lector do?"

Nov 13, 2013 22:40

I've been getting stressed for exams lately, as I'm wont to do. But lately I've found a rather odd coping strategy;

Every time I feel overwhelmed by the content I have yet to cover, instead of running around and tearing out my hair as therapy, I now ask myself: "What would Hannibal Lector do?" and I sit the fuck down, and calmly go through the material.

Funnily enough, I've found it applies to any situation where I feel like my emotions are getting in the way (and yes yes I know psychopathy != spock), I just ask "What would Hannibal Lector do?". Take a breath, and rise above all that.

Taking advice from a serial killer/cannibal/psychopath in order to become a doctor seems fairly ironic, but keeping your shit in stressful situations is pretty important in any career, imo. And besides, it's not like I'd thinking to myself "What would Hannibal Lector do?" when I'm faced with a moral problem.
