I had a new spurt of optimism for my informatics project, and now I think I am seriously capable of doing it! I sincerely hope.
But yes, we went on the Oktoberfest cruise on Thursday, which was mighty fun. There was actually a lot of drama initially; what with the people jumping off the boat, and the police interventions and everyone almost getting arrested--- your typical oktoberfest shite, I suppose. I didn't actually get to dress up, mainly because I couldn't find a dirndl that was BOTH:
a) affordable
b) did not make you look like a fucking slut
Though in hindsight, b) was probably the entire point of the night. But mostly, I was just angry the booze wasn't even free. Hello I thought that was what we paid for, but apparently not. Evidently the other point of the night was to get hooked up with somebody, but because I was with my respectable friends, I politely declined and made my exit each time.
Anyway, the cruise itself was VERY underwhelming. It was basically just a hired cruiser with two floors that were transformed into dance floors, where you could not actually dance because it was so stiflingly hot it was actually intolerable. It was like a sauna. JFC. It was across Syndey Harbour, and I suppose the view was quite pleasant. Buuuuut, I've lived here all my life and it's nice, but man it's boring.
The nightclub was where it was at, to be honest. It wasn't seedy at all, had decent music and best of all: FREE ENTRY 8'DDDD. Like, you can really tell I'm asian, but that made me so happy. Again, I was with my respectable friends, so I didn't really end up drinking myself to death (though I did gouge on a nice bourbon), but it was a fun night, with a somewhat memorable French guy who wouldn't stop shutting up about France and how much they hated England.
