At seven o'clock this morning we JUST got our power back. We still have no running water, and all of Broward County is under a "boil water" alert. For three days we have been without water and for two days we were without power. Weston got hit by the eye of Hurricane Wilma and experienced wind gusts of one and hundred and twenty miles per hour. you are SO lucky! i'm happy for you.
i live in sunrise/lauderhill (near the swap shop) and we haven't gotten power yet (i'm on a generator). my boyfriend in deerfield beach just called me and told me he has power, so i'm going to his house tomorrow =). another one of my friends near the sawgrass area got his power yesterday. me & my parents are living sort of comfortably.. as long as it's cold. we have some food, and our water works so we're able to boil water. the thing i hate is taking showers.. the water is FREEZING! but it's better than no water.
you live in such a beautiful neighborhood! too bad i have no idea where that is, lol. i don't know the weston area very well. my area got similar damage to yours, but yours was worse. uprooted sidewalks.. holy crap. i lost roof tiles and trees.. and my kitten ran away =(.
anyway, i hope you and your family survive alright and get any help you need. hopefully we won't have to go through this much longer. thank god not that many people were killed/injured. i'm just wondering how long we'll be able to live comfortably. i hope we can get some more gas for the generator to run it for a few nights longer. we're only running the generator for a few hours at night to save gas.
stay safe! ♥

I want a generator so bad!
Our power is going on and off for two hours at a time-- I just ran to the computer because our power just returned (we roasted soup over the BBQ grill!). So far, we have no water...which sucks pretty bad considering the fact that no water is being shipped to Weston since all the filthy rich people are buying bottles upon bottles first.

As far as where Weston is...it's REALLY close to Sunrise. It's in fact, right next to Sawgrass! If you know where Markham Park is...or where Muvico 24 is, than you know where Weston is. But yeah. it's about ten minutes away from Sawgrass Mills Mall :D.

But I'm glad that you guys are lively comfortably for now-- and I'm really glad that only about six people perished from the storm (I wish that known passed, but, hurricanes aren't kind like that).

My community once was beautiful though! Weston is super up-scale, so, all the homes (thank god!) were built wonderfully....but they were idiots and gave Weston so many Ficus trees that are both massive and shady, but hardly durable.

I'm glad you're pulling through sweetheart-- us Floridians need each other!

oooohhh! i think i know where you live now. i always knew that weston was a richy, up-scale area. my aunt works in a salon in weston, and i think it's nearby where you are. i looked up that intersection that i saw in one of your pictures (sunset springs & fairfax) and it's only 30 mins from my house.
you know, i actually heard that ten people died from the storm. i hope it wasn't anyone any of us knew of.
roasting soup over a BBQ! lol. i'm glad you guys are finding ways around. i'm so thankful that we have a gas stove, so all we need are matches and of course, food.. and we're set to cook.
you know, i'd really love for these phone lines to start working again. my cell phone has been working alright with sparatic signals now and then.. but the only people i've been able to reach were my boyfriend and sister who has to stay overnight at the hotel she works at. my house phone works, but the problem is that not many other people's phones are working. i'd really like to hear how some of my family and friends are doing.
so far, the people in my section of the block have been nice enough to help each other out. we helped each other clean up, share food, and one of my neighbors even shared generator power with another. it's so nice to see people helping each other out.
but then there was also a couple people from the block next to me who were caught selling drugs, so i hear.. =\

i really hope you guys get your water as soon as possible. we all know how vital water is. good luck with everything! we do need each other.
