(no subject)
Just a quick couple of comments.
1. We watched House first and when it was over, Mom said, "Y'know, I'm starting to imagine what it would be like if Dr. House had other characters that we know as patients. Like, if he went to Smallville and he had 'that Kent boy' in the clinic or something. That would be interesting."
*cue LJ's brain to thinking of lastscorpion's MPREG Clex fic*
*cue panicking because Mom's not quite to the fannish level of understanding mpreg*
Me: "Oh, believe me, it's been done."
Mom: "Awesome."
2. In the final barn scene, when Martha was finally verbally smacking Clark (Go, Ma Kent!) and Clark said that thing about wanting all three girls, Mom had me pause the DVR and said, "So, basically he wants a harem."
Me: "Um, yeah."
Mom: "Hm."
Me: "It could be a Kryptonian thing. I mean, we really don't know that much about how things were on Krypton." *cues thoughts re: Superman sex meta essay that I mentioned last weekend - currently on hold*
Mom: "Huh." *thinks* "He *is* an alien. And there was that thing with Spock..."
Ladies and Gentlemen, I come by my fannishness naturally.
And Dad, all through the episode, kept saying, "How are they going to fix this? HOW ARE THEY GOING TO *FIX* THIS???" And he says he doesn't care for this version of "superduper"...
More thoughts later, if I can manage it. I've spent the last few evenings writing fic - Clois, but not SV Clois, kind of general Superman mythos Clois, and thank god the smidgen of Clana that is in it, as back story, is resolved cleanly. All throughout the episode I kept thinking, "Thank god the Clark in that fic is not the Clark I'm seeing on my TV - cause this fic Clark has issues, but at least they're not SV Clark's issues..."
