Free as a bird. The cliché clung to Miles like a shadow as he swooped and soared over the trees. Not all birds were free, after all, and not all cages had bars. A wrist, a leather band, a few choice words: those seemingly innocuous things formed his prison. Never again would he doubt the power of words.
The leather band seemed to tighten on his leg-Sylvia's way of telling him to return to her. Free as a bird, Miles echoed darkly as his falcon body descended. That was one cliché he'd no longer say-if he ever got to say anything again.
