I can't get the Brothers El = Brothers Winchester image out of my head. It's a crack!fic waiting to happen, and I'm happy to see that someone else can see it, too!
The whole Clark freaking out/has Issues bit is something that I'm trying to be very careful about. There are only so many times in a day he can freak out, but it *does* have to happen from time-to-time. The guy has Serious Issues, especially when it comes to Jor-El and the ship, and I'm trying to address them as realistically as possible with freak-outs of varying proportions, while giving him the opportunity to deal with the issues and admitting that it's not entirely Jor-El's fault, or his own fault, that things have sometimes gone badly these last four years. Having Clark show an interest in Jor-El and Lara, and Krypton, and so on, as you pointed out was an attempt to get him recognizing these things and starting to move on. His interactions with Lara in Part 19 are also intended as a step in that direction. I think you'll enjoy Lara in that part, since you've liked her in previous chapters :)
So far there hasn't been a really good opportunity to decide the Shelby issue once and for all in "Reunion", but it's still on my mind. The reveal that Clark was practicing in front of Shelby was one of the best moments in "Promise" - Mom and I laughed!
