The Chicago White Sox just won the World Series. Something feels very wrong with a world in which such a thing can happen. Chicago isn't supposed to have baseball teams that can do that.
It hasn't happened since several years before any of my grandparents were born.
My Chi-town blood boils with undeserved pride. Wish I'd watched a few of the games now. Of course, baseball is a rare (and rather tedious) indulgence for me, and I usually only watch it to appease my brother-in-law, who plays the game professionally (Twins, AA league). I'm more of a boxing/football/sailing/skiing/golf/watchinggrassgrow kind of guy.
Now all we need is a WS victory for the Cubbies. Then the Apocalypse is truly upon us.
As a completely random side note, happy 23rd birthday to MO, and a wonderfully drunken 21st to Eily!
