EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

It's difficult to be more coherent and precise than that, but I guess I'll try.

Memento Mori

This was really good, better than I expected it to be actually. It reminded me a little bit of "the Real World" which is interesting; I guess the ideas flow both ways. ;)

I liked the Vala-centric episode, and if I didn't think so before now this would have convinced me unequivocally of Claudia Black's acting ability. Her fear, her frustration, her distrust, really really well done.

Okay, I'm sorry, but I'm totally falling in love with Vala/Daniel. They are just completely adorable. Loved the not!date (hee, Daniel) and the hug at the end was SO powerful, even as just friends.

Did Daniel get new glasses?

Hehe, just a funny note, in part of the car chase scene you see them drive by a highway sign that says "La---" and "Su---" and I was like, "HEY! Langley and Surrey!" I was thrilled. My sister went to school in Langley for a year and Surrey's close by. I'm sure no one outside British Columbia would have noticed, but it made me happy (even if it was technically an error). Oh, and speaking of "errors", the sheriff/police chief guy said the sedan had government plates but when it crashed, it clearly had Colorado plates. Hehe. I'm too obsessed.

Good episode overall. Love the lines about Cam losing his pants. He has to admit, that setup looked pretty darn suggestive. ;)

McKay and Mrs. Miller

I have no words for this episode. If you had walked in on me in the middle of it, you would have found me rocking back and forth on the floor, eyes glued to the screen, either crying, laughing, squealing, or doing something else that made me look utterly insane. Which I am.

Okay, the beginning was AWESOME. Very Beautiful Mind, but I love the way she interacted with Madison and the toys in the background and everything. Totally believable. And, ooh, Kate Hewlett is a GREAT actress! Go her!

I LOVED THE SIBLING INTERACTION. ALL OF IT. The good, the bad, the squabbling, the heart-to-heart, the teasing, the competition, all of it. I don't care that it thouroughly AUs about half the Rodney-background fic out there, it was SO WONDERFUL.

MEREDITH! HA! That's absolutely hilarious. Poor guy. What were his parents THINKING? I love that she calls him "Mer", though; it was really cute and very sisterly. Just a little jab, but kind of a pet name like he said, and obviously a habit. It was well done.

Rod was WOW. I loved the leather jacket and the hair, but the team was kind of right. Our Rodney is lovable because of all his faults and his utterly unique personality; Rod was pretty awesome, but he's the kind of guy that would get on your nerves after a while because he's TOO perfect. But his interaction with both Rodney and the team was amazing. Great effects, too, subtle so that you didn't even think about it, but when you did you realized that wow, a lot went into making this look believable. It's come a long way from "Double Jeopardy", which, while awesome, was kind of obviously showing off its SFX.

Just out of curiosity, whatever happened to that "entropic cascade failure" or whatever that was so horrible in "Point of View" and "There But for the Grace"? They explained it away in one SG-1 episode, but I don't remember what the explanation was...I guess it must have applied here, too, cuz they didn't mention it at all. Oh, and I loved heroic!Rod. Very cute.

Okay, that hug at the end was almost too much for me. In the best way. I very literally almost burst into tears. So moving! And Shep showed Jeannie the LFP video! I wondered if they'd bring that up! Hehe, I loved how Rodney swiped the statue for Madison; I have a feeling she's going to treasure that for a long time, even if it is a bit of an odd gift from an uncle...but Uncle Rodney's an odd guy.

OH! One of my favorite parts is when they beam into Atlantis and Shep introduces himself! Protective!Rodney was SO spot-on for a big brother! "She's married and she's my sister...I know what you're doing, Kirk." WONDERFUL.

Ha, and I was right, she is younger than him. Hehe. So what if I was wrong about everything else? Oh, speaking of which, that line about their dad made me think...sounds like maybe he was a smart guy too, maybe in some kind of science, but that he recognized their intelligence and encouraged them to get along...interesting. I hope they explore that more later, because it seems somewhat contradictory to what we know of Rodney's childhood and I'd love to see how they weave them together.

I didn't like the part where the team was laughing at Rodney. Embarrassing childhood stories are only funny if you're laughing WITH the person; those memories are obviously painful for Rodney and likely a large part of why he's so prickly today. You'd think they would realize that. But their little moment at the end was GOLD. Absolute gold. It reminds me of that scene in the third Harry Potter movie where the boys are eating the animal candies; a very unassuming moment, not anything important, but it says VOLUMES about their team dynamic. It was gorgeous.

Okay, I'm going to stop now, but this is my new favorite episode. Right up there with Duet and Grace Under Pressure.

EDITED TO ADD: I looked up Meredith and it means "protector from the sea". Rodney means "land near the water". No idea if this is intentional on the part of the writers, but I think it's cool.
