I guess I'm one of the reasons why it's quiet right now, since I'm on a posting hiatus for a few weeks during my job search - but I really hope it will be over within the next few weeks.

Anyway, pax, closer to 30 than 20, (astro)physicist, currently in Germany, on the verge of starting a new job in academia abroad this fall (I just wish it were already clear which and where). I read too much (a wild mix of comics, classics, contemporary and science fiction, see my Goodreads), cook almost daily when not travelling, prefer to eat out with friends and quiet chats to loud parties, volunteer in education/outreach project, am in a long-term-relationship I don't tend to talk much about, spend too much time online, get too upset about (science)politics (but have the rule to not talk about it online), love organic/eco-friendly fashion and totally fail to describe myself in a short blurb. So I have a tag " keys which kind of sums up the key to who I am (you don't have to read it, but if you want to read something - that may be it).

I absolutely love talking on LJ - conversation is (almost) more important than actual posts to me. It does not mean a comment to every entry; a comment every half a year is enough if it starts and interesting conversation. I love people who are enthusiastic about something: no matter whether it's their job or the project they volunteer for, whether it's an idea or a person, whether it's something small or something big.
Otherwise I seem not to connect with people whose only purpose in life are their kids/their family; nothing wrong with it, just the opposite, it's just not my world, I'm not a kids/family person, at all. And I am ever so slightly allergic to anything esoteric. I hate drama in my life and manage to be pretty much almost drama-free (I hope). Oh, and a lot of people on my friends list are actually became (real life) friends over time. People without whom my life would much more sad. People whom I don't ever want to miss.

Hi! I think we should be friends! I'm a 25 year old about to start my PhD in urban design & behavior. I am definitely a nerdy and enthusiastic person --- and I value that deeply in others too, and also use LJ to make real friendships, not just flist friends.

Add? :)
