Today marks the first anniversary of my change to a goatee, which makes it the third longest style I've worn. I figured my beard style durations work out like so (from longest to briefest):
1.) Full beard (trimmed): 22 years (1987 to 2009) and 2 years (1985 to '87)
2.) Untrimmed full beard (the BCBB Fave): 7 years (c. 1977 to '84)
3.) Goatee: 1 year (plus a one-month predecessor in 1987; so 1 ear & 1 month lifetime total)
4.) Full beard with square-shaved cheeks: 9 - 10 months (circa 1984)
5.) Mustache-less "Quaker's beard: 2 weeks
The "Quaker's beard" I wore back in 1980 when I was 23 in an effort to thicken my then-wispy mustache. I hated it and didn't keep it long. For the record, the two weeks of shaving didn't thicken the mustache; it thickened on its own as I aged.
To clarify any confusion, here is that list in sequential order:
Untrimmed full beard / Quaker's beard / untrimmed full beard (regrown) / Square-cheek beard / Full beard / Goatee / Full beard/ Goatee
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOAT! :-{)}
