2010

So I figure I need to write something semi-regularly here and I guess since it's the start of the year and all, I should probably spell out my goals for this year so next year I can remember what I was supposed to do this year and then get it done next year. Or something. =/

So! Let's start making this list!

1. Getaway with Allan
This is actually booked for next week, we only worked it out yesterday but I'm glad I've got at least one thing accomplished. We're going to Palm Cove which is up on the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns. I've never been so far north, nor been on a plane with Allan before so should be quite the adventure :D Only for three nights though as I'll be getting back...

2. A new job
I've applied for something that I'm really pinning my hopes on. I just hope I get it. It's exactly what i want. Permanent part time, decent confirmed hours though still somewhat flexible AND I keep weekends free! It'll do wonders for my life/work balance as I often seem to favour the work side of things as I try to save up for

3. Moving out
Allan and I are planning on moving out together. We've worked out what kind of budget we want, the area we'd like to live in and what sort of apartment we're aiming for BUT it all depends on my second goal which is to get a new job. The one that I've applied for will be plenty to cover expenses and hopefully have enough left over to help the savings out.

4. Do well at Honours
I'm doing honours in History this year and while it's taking a while to all iron out, i'm 99% sure it's happening so I'm including it as I hope I do well enough to get noticed for a career, I'll be happy :)

5. Gym
Summer holidays have taken their toll and as such I haven't worked out for almost two months. Better get back to it. Not that it seems to do much but everyone keeps saying it's healthy...

6. Get into the investment market
I've got a fair bit saved up and when I get my new job (see goal 2) I'd like to put some of my savings into shares or something. i'm still investigating what's a good idea and what's just risky but hopefully it'll be good to put them out of the way and earning something without the danger of me dipping into them on a whim.

7. Own my own car
I'm planning on buying my dad's Toyota off him. So that'll gradually happen over the year. He's selling it at market price and since I've already lent him money, it'll work out to be another ten grand or so. Pretty good deal and although there are other cars out there, the toyota is reliable, safe and gets the job done. Also, I've named it Jemima so I ahve a responsibility to it :p

8. Improve my driving
With owning a car, I'd like to also improve my driving, take some special courses - defensive driving and the like as well as mechanic stuff so I actually know what sounds weird, what might be wrong and how to not get ripped off at the mechanics.

9. See my friends more
Often I find myself being too busy to see anyone or I pour too much of my time into activities that really aren't that productive =/ I want to be able to meet up with my friends more and talk to them more. Maybe actually begin to use my phone for it's original purpose of CALLING PEOPLE. This should be easily achieved if I get the job I'm hoping for and get some weekends back :D

10. Write more at Australian Gamer/Play more games
My gaming has picked up a little in the last few months but not enough! Again, with free weekends I hope I can get back into a healthy routine instead of having to binge game every now and then. Also, Australian gamer needs to be more professional, efficient and the like. I'm actually working on reviews that should've been up last year. NOT GOOD. Also with Australian Gamer, I'm hoping to pick up more on contacts in the industry and create a stronger presence for them in Melbourne. Not sure how I'll do it, but I'm going to try. I should also do at least one meet up by myself. Just need to work out how. Maybe another BBQ with a treasure hunt...

For now, that's enough I think. Pretty big goals. Some of them I'm pretty sure I can get done this year, the others will need some work. Hopefully I'll update LJ more often this year as well but with Allan, most of what I want to rant/talk about I get out of my system with him so I feel like I have little to say when it gets to LJ. Ah well, maybe i can just find a meme gen out there that I'll do once a week and spam you all! Hah.
