One week post covid

I woke up this morning feeling pretty normal; yesterday I was tired when I woke up, but not today. So, having the day off and feeling pretty normal, I started to think of some projects that I want to get done. I will do two projects with Mike and the boys' help:

1) winterize the raspberry patch; pull out the dead canes and trim the 1-yr old canes

I snugged some fall leaves under the raspberries and had the boys lay sticks over 'em to keep them in place.

2) winterize the grape and install the support fence. This summer, the grape went bonkers and broke the too-small support it was hanging on. Then it laid on the ground and got all stomped on by the kids. So today tomorrow we're going to install and post and wire fence, and get the grape tied up and trimmed for the winter.

-- got the new posts for the grape fence but Mike is working on the porch steps instead. We'll do the grape tomorrow.

I did, however, gather some fennel umbels that have been growing over by the garden for years -- if they were planted by the previous home owner, then the plant is at least 15 years old. Now my kitchen smells of fennel, and of the turkey soup I'm making. It is heavenly.

Oh, maybe I'll make these fennel and cranberry soda buns sometime this week. They sound yummy. Originally posted to Dreamwidth, were there are
