Fortunately, we've had a slow autumn. I was really late getting everything into the ground, so I'm still harvesting quite a bit:
Behind the basket are a couple of broccoli stems -- I'm going to chop the leaves and shred the stems for slaw. We have two nice sized spaghetti squash that will be used up north next week for a big family spaghetti feed (my son Jake has celiac), as well as a bunch of acorn squash and two sugar pie pumpkins. A lot of the broccoli went to seed because we didn't get out and harvest as regularly as we should. I'm going to collect the seed and see if I can grow with it next year; I've never done that with broccoli. I'm collecting tomato seeds, too, as well as all of the squash seeds.
Yesterday, I went to the plant nursery and bought some discount perennials. Here's a list of what I now have, some bought, some from friends and some wildgathererd:

If you click on any of the above links, they are pics from google. My own plants are still very small. It'll take two or three years for my garden to "pop" -- and it will be sorting itself out for years and years, what will grow best where, fighting for space, finding niches. It's very cool.
Next week we're all going up north for a huge family get-together (it's just the immediate family and some close friends, but we're kinda huge). When I get back, I'm going to start digging the new double-dug plots across the street, and I'm hoping to get the stack wood garden shed built before the snow falls.
28 December, Edit: I came back from the Birthday Bash with a horrible head cold that sapped my energy and segued right away into another horrible head cold. So I never did get my other garden bed dug, let alone the shed.
