recap of the past couple of weeks
lets see...ani was amazing as always. She did the song that i have been waiting to hear since kerry and i saw her in erie last fall. I guess it's called subconscious, but its amazing. anyway, so the place the concert was at was absolutely beautiful. It was at the falcon ridge folk festival held in hillsdale (which is about an hour southeast of albany.) I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets i've ever seen in my life on the drive home. oh yeah the day before that i went to visit my friend lindsay who is soon moving to california...yeah soon as in this sunday. Her brothers had a party at their house, so lindsay and i got extremely fucked up and had a great time. Apparently a couple of videos were taken during this party...yeah i finally got to see myself drunk. It was pretty hilarious.
The weekend after that i went to rhode island. My mom and aunt were already there so i just went to stay a couple of nights. I got there at about 3am on saturday morning. The next day we went to the beach and out to dinner with my aunt and uncle who live out there. We went to naragansset afterwards because they had some festival thing going on, hung out there for a bit, had a drink overlooking the ocean and went back to the hotel and passed out. The next day we got up early and went to newport because i really wanted to go there. I know it's a really rich part of rhode island, hell the country so i was thinking that maybe i could get a job there someday. We went to a mansion tour (the rosecliff mansion) which was really awesome. There are so many beautiful mansions there...the breakers is the vanderbilt mansion which is next on my list i think. Maybe i'll live there someday haha. We walked around the wharfs which is a collection of little streets on the ocean (more of a marina) with all kinds of shops and restaurants. The only bad thing about being near the ocean is that there is a whole lot of seafood...yuck. On our walk back to the car we stopped at this little gallery (called the reign gallery in case anyone wanted to know) because they had some really eye catching pictures outside. So we walk in and its just breathtaking. There was one artist named edward gordon...hes fucking phenomenal. I can't even describe it. There were other pictures of ripples in water that were really amazing too but i can't find them online and i cant remember the name of the artist. I guess i'll just have to go back. So after newport we went kayaking which is always fun. I would really like to own a kayak someday. Actually i've been wanting to buy my mom one but i don't think i could possibly afford the quality of one that i would want to buy her. That was the end of my RI trip.
I've read 4 of 6 harry potter books since the beginning of july. I've actually put a big dent in the 5th one too but it's a little harder to get into. I might be harry pottered out.
I can't believe that it's already almost halfway through august. It feels like i've only been home for a couple of months, but it's been around 9. That's just really crazy to me. Jose is going to geneseo in god, like 2 weeks. It's not going to be the same here without him. Alexis is going to Washington DC for her internship...i plan on visiting her. And jenny is going back to buffalo at the end of the month. The summer flew by i feel like. Christine will still be here (yay!) but i feel like everyone else will be gone. I have barely seen anyone that i went to school with...barely talked to them even. I really thought at least a few of us would hang out, but we haven't. I guess it takes two though and i haven't really made any effort.
I am driving jenny out to school the last weekend of august. I haven't been to buffalo since the beginning of may. I really miss it sometimes, but i think i'm also a different person now. I really really hope that mitch goes out then too cause i would LOVE to see him. He left buffalo when i did so its been a really long time since i have seen him...we always got along so well and had fun together. But so anyway i am so excited to go out. I am gonna take kerry and adam out to dinner at some point while i'm there. And i definetely plan on hanging out with my cops, phil, steve-o, schou and kelly, colleen, and heather. There are a few other people i would like to see but there aren't enough hours in the day, and i guess i'll see who i see. I really really want to see teo. I really have to make a point to get ahold of him and go down and see him if only for a little while. I've got to make sure not to go into mobil and fall down into the flowers and knock them over this time too.
So on another exciting note i ordered 3 ani cd's from ebay. It's too bad my cd burner hasn't been working cause i would really like to copy them all for kerry, the only one who appreciates the ani love. They should be in my mailbox sometime this week.
And i also registered for my temporary esthetics liscense which should be coming any day now too. And then i'll be able to take my exams and be seriously liscensed. i can't fucking wait until that practical exam is out of the way.
Oh i got wax too so if anyone is in need of waxing let me know!
Ashley stopped over the other night...we did our ritual go to the store and get caesar salad mix and ate all of it. It was really nice to have her around though, i miss her. We should really get together more often, but i understand that it's hard with two kids and a husband. We talked about all kinds of stuff. I still find that there are just some things that i am only comfortable talking about with her. It's weird, even after all these years of not being so close i still feel like she's just someone i can say anything or do anything in front of. Kinda like the sister i never had.
So i have been trying to come up with some promo ideas for L&L. I have thought of a couple things such as:
1. Sending to people that i know (friends parents, people i babysat for, etc) a menu of the services that the salon and i alone provide, and a coupon saying that if they get a facial they get their second one 1/2 off.
2. Putting out flyers for a free paraffin hand dip with every facial (with the flyer of course, or promo code or something).
3. The same as above with a free eyebrow wax.
If anyone has any more ideas please let me know and i'm so serious cause i'm lacking in the advertising department of my brain.
