Concerning my last post...

My last post was met with some amount of hostility, and while some of the feedback was harsh I feel it was well deserved. Nothing drives me more than criticism. That said, I have revised the article into a manner that I hope is less dogmatic and just more informative ( Read more... )

I've been the only one responding to you, and there was no hostility in either of my posts. Trust me, had there been hostility, there would have been more swearing. ;)

All I did was question, point out mistakes and so forth. This was given with the aim of helping rather than tearing down; constructive criticism, if you will.

Education and comfort are occasionally opposing forces. Really when we wish to learn and grow we must thrust ourselves out of where we are comfortable. For many it is a shock to learn, for example, that Wicca is an initiatory faith. I know some women who took months to properly come to terms with it but they are now much happier in their knowledge than they were beforehand. How many people believed Ravenwolf, and how hurt were they when they discovered how much crap she was full of? Learning is often painful. I appreciate your intent, but from time to time there will be an article you have to write that will mean you must choose whether you wish to comfort or inform.

But honestly.... at no point was I at all harsh. I offered ideas for improvement, I provided interesting sources, I asked questions that I hoped would help you in your construction of your articles. I was even enthusiastic. I am honestly at a loss as to why I was considered harsh; perhaps I did not include enough emoticons. Tone is often hard to read in text form, particularly if one is unfamiliar with the writing style of one's interlocutor.

Now, I do know people who are harsh in their criticism. They are intelligent and often provocative and correct, but they are harsh. So I know harsh criticism and how it can feel. If you felt I was harsh, it was not my intent, however, I could be harsh if you would like me to be.

After all, there is far too much misinformation in the Pagan community at present.
