Hi there, I have a 1 bedroom flat and there's hardly an room for regular things let alone an altar but when I moved in I was adament that I wanted one. I am lucky enough to have a fireplace with a big oak beam above, and I have dedicated this as my altar. It always has a goddess and god statue and a candle because each morning I light this and ask for them to bless me during the day. There is also an inscence burner. Other than that everything else on there changes depending on the time of year, the fesival, the way I am feeling, the casting that I am doing at that time etc. If I find sounething that takes my eye in nature and I feel that it is worth using in my castings... it all goes on the altar. I keep it out at all times because I feel that this is my house and if people come to my house then they need to be respectful of the way I live my life, just as I would be in their home. I've found though because its quite a central part of the lounge and its always changing, it is a really lovely addition and my friends& family often comment on it and how peaceful it makes them feel.
thank you, it's always nice to hear about how other people use their altars. it's not a situation that has really worked out and i am residing in my parents house temporarily. perhaps it sounds bad to abandon my boyfriend to his crazy parents but in all honesty, i'm just not crazy enough to do that to myself.
i don't think that i am afraid that people will not respect my beliefs it's just i enjoy having it there when i wake up and go to bed.
