Long Overdue Introduction

Mar 07, 2008 23:36

Hello, everyone!  I have for awhile been reading the posts on this community and finally feel ready to make my introduction.  My name is Julie.  I am a 24 year-old solitary, eclectic Wiccan (or witch, depending with whom you speak).  I have recently rediscovered how wonderful tarot cards and runes are after an extended absence.  I practice yoga daily and am also trying to get back into meditation.

I reached Wicca through Gnostic Christianity, if you can believe it.   I was raised Lutheran (ELCA) in a very spiritually healthy church.  The main reason why I left the Christian faith was because it didn't answer many of my questions.  I also felt that it was possible for our souls to reincarnate and that our souls existed long before the incarnation of our present life.  I then discovered Gnosticism which answered more of my questions.  However, there are so many different approaches to this religion; and I didn't like arguing with some of these dogmatic concepts, so I don't completely consider myself Gnostic Christian anymore.

I guess my religious views are a mixture of Wicca and Gnosticism.  I believe in the God and Goddess and see Them as the masculine and feminine sides of the Christian God.  We find this gender dualism everywhere on earth, so it only makes sense that God is male and female also.  Also, in the Adam and Eve story, God says "Let us make mankind in our image."

I think that our souls can incarnate throughout multiple and lifetimes.  We grow emotionally and spiritually through our earthly experiences and incarnations.  I believe that our souls are ageless: that they have always been and always will be, as God and Goddess always have been and always will be.

I think our world has been blessed with amazing teachers: Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, Mahamad (though I don't know quite as much about him), etc.  I think we are all children of God and Goddess and are filled with their divine spark (Gnostic belief).

As for what I do: I teach middle school band and orchestra.  Right now I love it, but I unfortunately don't always because it can be extremely stressful. I'm not sure if it's a career I should remain with for the rest of my life, but I guess we will see as time passes.

Anyway, that is who I am -- for the most part (not that anyone can be precisely defined with words).  I hope I haven't offended anyone with my thoughts or beliefs.  I once posted my ideas in another community and was scolded for them.   :-/   I am so tired of the dogma of religion and have sought to escape it through my solitary practices.  Anyway, I look forward to continuing to learn about all of you and what you think/believe!

Love and Light be with you,
Julie
