Dumpstered Bonsai

Hey all. I just wanted to drop in and say hello, just joined this community not too long ago. Hope that there are still some active people lurking around.

Secondly, I wanted to tell you about the two bonsai plants that I found in the dumpster. One looks to be some sort of juniper, not sure exactly the species. It's in much better health than the other one, although that doesn't mean that it's doing well. The other looks to be some sort of evergreen. Again, not sure what species this is but has needles that distinctly resemble a christmas tree. I found both of this last Sunday in the dumpter at Trader Joes (a health good grocery store). Poor little plants. They used a hot glue gun to literally glue the rocks to the soil. The soil even has glue on it, which I'm sure is terrible for the plants. Both plants are in pretty bad condition, #2 more so than #1. Hopefully getting them on a better watering routine and working on an outdoor transition will keep them going. I suspect that a lot of these bonsai plants get tossed from places like this on a daily basis, since bonsai plants seem to be everywhere.

I'll try and get some pictures of these poor mistreated plants up soon. Hopefully I'll be able to bring them back from the brink of death with a little care.
