aveleh and I haven't been able to connect to Jabber since the ddos started. Yet most others are able to connect without trouble. In case it's client related, I'd like to gather a list of who's affected and what they're using
( ... )
I haven't used it in the last two days, but on ...Sunday the 11th, I think it was? I was able to connect and talk to someone on there.
Right now I can connect to/see the Frank bot, but I can't tell if any of my actual friends are online. (Sometimes in the past I have been able to see Frank but not real people, since I saw they were online via other services and IMed them and they said that they could see Frank too and also couldn't see me. But I can't see those people on other services right now either so I don't think they're signed on.)
I use Pidgin for both Windows and Linux. (Was on Windows on the 11th, am on Linux now.)
I was having trouble connecting in iChat as well but I got it working with a minor tweak.
In Preferences: 1) Under the 'Account Information' tab, setup the Account Name and password as described in the FAQ. For example, Account Name = (your username)@livejournal.com, password = (your password) 2) Under the 'Server Settings' tab try checking the 'Automatically find server and port' checkbox.
This worked for me. To test it, go back to the 'Account Information' tab, uncheck the 'Enable this account' checkbox, and then check it again to re-enable. Good luck!
Also working on Pidgin in Windows 7 on my home computer. I can't check the version of pidgin from here, but it's reasonably close to the latest version.
Still having trouble? I just got mine working. My hangup was entering 'livejournal.com' in the 'Connect Server' field of the Options tab. Everything was peachy after I changed that in my Adium preferences. Leaving the 'Connect Server' field blank did the trick for me.
