Since Charles Dickens died in 1870, he looked at nothing through turn-of-the-century eyes, nor did he have a penchant for Edwardian style.

You've missed the point, I think... "Steampunk" falls from early Victorian era, through Edwardian, give or take a few years. Thus, Charles Dickens is era-appropriate, as is turn-of-the-century fashion. It's not implying that Dickens like Edwardian style at all. "Steamfashion" deals with the fashion trends of the steampunk subculture, not the actual history of the Victorian era.

Just sayin'. :)
