Jun 17, 2014 10:23

Based on the feedback we've received regarding the redesigned version of the site, we've decided to keep the option to continue using the old friends page! As of this release, you can still view your friends page by using the same URL you always have (http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/ ( Read more... )

The Inbox counter on the LJ bar at the top of every page still goes only to 99; has that error been logged yet? I reported it a couple weeks ago but haven't seen it mentioned since. Other than that, great work! Thank you!

You know, I was certain that one was filed, but I'm not finding it. So, filing it now!

I suspect it stops at '99' because of space issues (three digits or more aren't going to fit in the little orange 'there's something unread!' indicator circle -- it's currently sized for just two digits). But having an inaccurate number displayed is somewhat unhelpful, so I'm sure something can be adjusted one way or the other to show the real number. :)

Thanks, that would be great! Maybe it could be adjusted to show "new" ones, since the Inbox was last visited? But I agree, an inaccurate number is not helpful. :)

The suggestion I proposed for an email provider's favicon was "99+" -- space can't be adjusted much there, but with the +, even if it stops showing new information, it still says that it's uncountably more than 99.

One of my comms' layout still doesn't have a space for the subject line when commenting on custom comment pages; I've reported this bug but have received no response.

There is a problem with customized styles showing this option because the presentation page settings page are generated by information present in each style (some styles have options that others do not).

yoksel has made a quick tutorial on how custom styles can be edited to include this option at http://yoksel.github.io/lj-tips/add-comment-subj-to-custom-layer/ although we are still trying to determine if we can change the way the options page is generated so that the setting always appears.

Thanks, the support request had just been answered as well.

Both responses are in part completely confusing, but I was able to solve the problem by switching customized comment pages off, saving, setting the subject line on default comment pages to on, saving, and then switching the default comment pages off again. Presto, for no logical reason whatsoever, the customized comment pages *finally* have subject line space when making a new comment.

Also, I had no clue that only Plus or above accounts could even have custom comment pages in themes. When bringing forth such "improvements" maybe also "improve" the "dumb" (support request answerer's word, not mine) layout/theme editing pages.

Repeating the question: How can I get the comment subject line back?
(using S2 Magazine style on the Basic account)
