You can turn comment subject lines on for your journal or community by visiting http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml and enabling the "Show subject in comment form for system style of comments" setting

I'm not seeing that at all, which subheading of the customization page is it under?

The new option will only display if you're actually using system comment pages. So if you're using custom comment pages (if you have "Disable customized comment pages for your journal" set to No), then you won't see this option.

If you want to use the system comment pages, set "Disable customized comment pages for your journal" to Yes and save the page, and then you'll see the new option appear right below that one.

We'll edit this info into the post to clear that up. Thanks!

Hmm, and ura subject line now in both place, in the blue where it belongs, and in bold black at the start of the comment body area. That looks rather odd. LJ, i assume that was an on-purpose decision and not an oversight...?

Well done on the comment lines thing! This is very pleasing indeed. Listening to user feedback about an unwanted change to the site is exactly the correct thing to do.

Now.

Let's see you listen to user feedback about the recent site redesign, and ensure that the choice to opt out and retain the "Lynx" site scheme remains available indefinitely.

Or, alternatively, to have some other mechanism for ensuring that site pages reliably render readably, either on devices which are compromised or less capable, or for users with sensory apparatus which is compromised or less capable. A mechanism that doesn't require someone to implement a nasty client-side kludge on each device they use.

The possibility of keeping something like Lynx available (whether it's Lynx itself or a new-but-with-same-purpose stripped down scheme) is definitely on the radar. I of course cannot promise what will or won't happen, but I know it's being discussed/considered.

>The thread collapser, which indicates how many more comments a long comment thread has, no longer displays a selection of usernames from that thread.

Why not? I think that was a useful feature, can't imagine a reason to drop that.

Agreed. I find it pretty helpful in communities with a lot of members. It shows me if I even want to enter or not.
