DO. NOT. WANT.

Give us a permanent opt out option on this ugly wanna-be tumblr friends list disaster please.

Then again, I suppose this explains everything: http://www.dailydot.com/news/livejournal-shut-down-us-office/

Ditto this.

And that link does explain a hell of a lot...

Infinite scrolling is a pox. Don't "fix" something that isn't broken.

And this one offers brief translations suggesting paid accounts are going away (!?!)

Personally, I don't care if it's Russians. I just think that whoever is running things ought to listen to the users wherever they may be.

Agreed. Whomever's running it should listen to all their users and take the whole into account.

It does but it doesn't. Don't Russians like customizations too? The whole thing just seems weird.

The reactions to the new Friend feed are the same here - not needed and not wanted.
Not to mention that even paid accounts will be forced to use it.

They're making it less and less likely that people will pay for it. They keep allowing things in basic accounts that paid users can have and if I'm going to have the same identical "feed" as everyone else I'm just not going to renew this year. There doesn't seem to be much of a point.

Pretty much this^

In fact the only reason I spent my money - was the custom design for everything. My own style for my blog, friends feed and their blogs.
No point in paying now, indeed. Not much of reason not to move to blogspot or any other service either.

My only reason for staying really is the community aspect. But those are starting to deteriorate too. If more people jump ship, I won't be here for long, which makes me sad.

I wish someplace like Blogspot made it easier to read your friend's blogs like this place used to.

>made it easier

After Blogger\Blogspot was updated by google - it became almost as easy as it was here.

Hmm...apparently I need to look again because I haven't been able to figure it out.

Of course, the lack of "friends only" posts make it useless in other ways too.

Much as I hate beating a dead horse, Dreamwidth. Things are starting to pick up over there and I use it far more than I use LJ these days.
