How the HELL does this make it "easier" to pick user pics when I have to wait for HUNDREDS to load? I know what they're called, I don't need to hunt through them all when they're NOT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.

Also the subject lines were FINE. PUT THEM BACK.

THANK YOU the userpics browser is actually my first problem with this. I mean, there are other things I hate, but the userpic browser is awful. I didn't use it before, I certainly don't want to be stuck with it now.

I'm not even attempting to use anything other than my defaults tonight - the icon selector is that bad. I have to wait for it to load, scroll through hundreds of icons that are completely out of any semblance of order...and this is "easier"??!

They're actually in the order of when you uploaded them, like on your profile. Sooo stupid!

Also if you're unpaid right now, it doesn't tell you which ones are disable and which are not. It simply goes to your default icon when posting. Is that a ploy to make me want to be paid? It's doing the exact opposite.

completely agree.

I think it's disgusting that those us who actually pay for more storage to add extra pics are now being penalised for doing so, because it takes so long for them all to load.

Add to that having to use the search function in order to find the one you want since they're not alphabetically listed, and the fact that said search function is also now case sensitive where it wasn't before, well it's already driving me mad.

I doubt very much if I#ll be bothering to renew for extra pics when the time comes unless this is reverted.

My main reason for buying paid accounts and add-ons - both for my personal account and as an RPer - was to have extra icons. Now it is difficult for me to access my icons, and having so many of them is annoying rather than fun. Guess who's glad her paid accounts and add-ons are running out in December and January?

I'm exactly the same, the extra icons was why I paid too, but right now I can't find any of the ones I actually want to use.

Oh and did you notice they've also moved the tags so they're BEHIND the lj cut now? There's another sensible idea for you

Same. I let mine run out and was waiting to renew them. This set up makes me think it'd be much easier and more pleasant with the minimum amount of userpics available. Basic account, here I come.

Might be worth checking out Dreamwidth. If you haven't heard of them , they're a LJ cloe, but they still have comment subject lines, and icons in alphabetical lists.

Dreamwidth have free account creation up until the end of this year, so you won't need an invite code, if you want to move now.

If you're interested, start with this post: http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=127&q=import+journal&lang= which tells you how to import your LJ and all the entries into Dreamwidth.

They also have Promo codes for whole communities who want to move: http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=220 if you're involved with any comms.

I use both sites, and I'm seriously considering just giving up and deleting my LJ at this point, because these changes collectively make LJ very hard to use now.

Wait - you can import whole communities now??

Oh hell, why am I still at LJ then??

Dreamwidth - all of the functionality, none of the Russian Death Politics.

Wait - you can import whole communities now??

No, sorry -- I should have made that clearer. You still can't import communities, because DW can't figure out who owns the comms if most of the comms posts are made by comm members.

You can, however, invite a whole community of users over to DW as a group using special promo codes.

So you'll have to rebuild the comm, but you can get all the comm members over to DW to do it. Even with the rebuilding, it might be worth it, especially for RPers and others who need those subject lines and easy comment thread navigation.

(Damn, LJ, why do you have to break everything?!)

I am actually getting a Dreamwidth right now, thank you. The ONLY reason I haven't been over there is it isn't as pretty, but now... LJ is all of the pretty, NONE OF THE PRACTICALITY.

I am so gone. So happy my paid is running out on like, Christmas. NOT EVEN BOTHERING WITH ICONS.

and ugghhhhh that surprise CAPTCHA FUCK YOU

Remember to check your automatic payments has been turned off; some people were reporting that it was turned back on somehow after they'd turned it off. Which was yet another reason for me to run away, fast.

To be fair, that may have just been a glitch while the rollout was happening, because I've checked my payments page several times and the payment option has stayed manual since I turned auto payments off, but still... ::is now paranoid::

Grrr, captcha!

Oooooh yeah, that has sketch written aaall over it. Kinda already fucked anyway, since I was on automatic, and it renewed like...four days before 88 was rolled out. Fuck me. (ETA: and THEN that DDoS we're-sorry thing made it Christmas. CONFUSED.)

Better late than never, though! Thanks for the reminder. >_< This is horrendous.

ugh yes, surprise captcha why

Haha I had replied to your other post, but it won't matter. They show up even when you're unpaid. You'll have to delete them all. >__

Right there with you on all counts.

This is the first time I've ever regretted buying a permanent account.

Way to fail hardcore, LJ.
