LJ supports Cyrillic-script services -- that covers Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Slovak, and a bunch of other (mostly?) Slavic languages. Who are you to sneer at them just because you don't know the language? It's LJ's responsibility to read their comments and react appropriatetly.

Um, am I missing something here? I don't see this as having been in response to the Cyrillic-script services at all. I believe the "tl;dr" comment was in response to the main post. To which I say, anyone is welcome to skip reading anything for any reason, but if there's a problem discovered later with the policy changes, well, then it might seem like it was worth the time to bother in the first place.

Not, mind you, that I always read the updates myself. :^) But that's a risk I take.
