To use my rss style, you need to set it as 'trusted' for your particular user.

Go to: http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/ and enter this command: "set trusted_s1 665688" (note that's a (one), not an L)

    Great, it works!

Now I was reading your source and you said not to use online feed readers like Yahoo or Google's. So you're sure there's no way to add this feed to Google Reader without it going public?

Also, is it such a big deal about adding it to Google Reader if it requires a username/password to use?

my recommendation is to use a local rss client and not a web-based one, unless you control it. yahoo and google need a stricter privacy policy and/or a 'private' checkbox to ensure they will not publish private links.

I'm mulling around ideas in my head how to fix this, but havn't come up with anything yet..

Well, it doesn't seem to even work with My Yahoo or Google Reader seeing as it's a PHP file.

But more importantly, it doesn't seem to work with Outlook 2007. It shows up as code within the RSS reader. It also doesn't work with Firefox's Live Bookmarks.

hum; I had it working in yahoo/google yesterday by passing the user/pass in the GET query (which again, I do not recommend, see source)

I've really only tested the xml in safari/osx and web-based aggregators.. there may be some minor changes required for full compatibility.. suggestions welcome;)
