You can consider this kind of users as good candidates to be included in your friend's lists since they are valued by your friends. This tool as actually a free equivalent for LJ tool Popular Users Amongst Your Friends which is available for paid ( Read more... )

When the list of suggested friends came up, I clicked on the little buttplug icon to go direct to their userinfo pages, but in all cases it sent me to their journals.

*daha*

That's kinda scary... The top suggested friends it gave me are people I know IRL but don't have their journals on my flist. Whoa. :p

Unless, of course, they're people in your circles who you can't stand for one reason or another. Especially given that some people will reflexively friend back anyone who friends them, even if they hate them, and just use the invisible "default view" friends category (or another one) to control who they actually read and trust.

That's dumb. It's supposed to be used for people you trust whose journals you find boring.

Yes, I believe that happens sometimes. You could be aware of some people since you already see them in your friend's journals but you do not really want to include them in your friends. But I hope this script can uncover some users that were not that visible for you but appreciated by your friends. After all you do not have to include all the users that this script is giving you.

Is it caching the results? It seems to take time to look at people even if they were looked at by a search for a difference person moments before.

I'd worry about that - the LJ staff don't like people hitting the site repeatedly without caching it...

ok, ok :) I'll do it asap. Thanks for suggestion. Come back tomorrow to enjoy nice and smooth caching. Maybe I'd better stop this service until the caching is on? :E
