MemcacheD Update

Just wanted to let everyone know, that a new version of MemcacheD has been released. We will be rolling this out to the memcache nodes during the week of July 20th to 24th. This should have very little impact on the stability of the website; however users may see a slight increase in load times as the cache is re-populated with entries.

What does this update do for the site? Will we notice a difference as an end-user?

Nothing that's particularly obvious. The site might get a bit faster after the upgrade, but that's about it.

Oh I'm not trolling. I did miss that part though something is royally screwed up then. All my feeds haven't updated all day either

...which sounds superlike when we lost replies to comments on posts a few months back, which nevernever came back...I'm moving to a site that works better...and I even used to be a paid member here!

If you read the release notes you'll see that memcached is a back-end DB optimization server, and the improvements to 1.40 are almost entirely performance-related (with some extra reporting stuff). Nothing you'll see on the site itself beyond faster load times.
