I don't know how it works myself. The style system and embedding system was written by someone else. All I know is that I used to (pre this weekend) see all protected entries that I am allowed to see and comments on my friends page in my style via my website.

Okay, I'm a complete novice at this. I'm using a style system and embedding system given to me by someone else so I'm not sure what any of this actually means?

Idiots guide anyone?

Those changes aren't live yet, but I suspect one of the preliminary alterations may have been made live if it suddenly isn't working. Although, I think it's more l iekly that you just broke something.

What error does it actually give?

I don't actually get anything so much as an error message. What I used to be able to do is to login to my account at www.livejournal.com, then inspect the cookie information for the session id, and paste this into the login box in the right hand column of www.shepline.com/journal/default.asp and this would log me in from my own site. Even if I do this now, although it says logged in, I don't get protected entries or friends page comments in my style (ie. the same result as what used to happen periodically when the cookies expired).

The cookie changes haven't even gone live yet, so it's not a cookie problem.

Yeah, I discovered what it was. My page was fetching information from the old www.livejournal/users/shepline/ page which fetched 'un-logged-in' only even though I was 'logged-in'. Changing the addresses to the 'new' shepline.livejournal.com addresses has fixed the problem.
