They were tired of cat-macros?

Come on, we all know it takes at least a few pages for the cat macros to kick in. They never had a chance!

It's unfair, we should start out with cat-macros. I picked up some really good ones during the last couple of protests.

I'm puzzled as to why LJ users would have felt the need to comment on:
  1. an entry that was merely a link to another site
  2. an entry which announced something about which LJ users have nothing to say.

Were LJ users going to get a say in who the CEO is? Ask about what Barak was doing? And what purpose would that serve?

What company ANYWHERE does that?

So true, so true. It's a shame these people don't have some kind web service where they can post any little thing that's not related to the issue at hand and that flits through their brain for the amusement of their friends, isn't it?

You know, something like a....JOURNAL? ;)

I think a lot of people are more upset that comments were enabled and then all of a sudden disabled. At least that's why it bothers me. If they don't want comments, don't enable them to begin with.

err, no. They enable comments on things where contributions, questions and thoughts from LJ users are appropriate.

What would LJ users have said here? That the new CEO's resume wasn't fandom-friendly enough?

You have the right to post with comments enabled or disabled on YOUR lj. Should they not have the same right?

They do have the same rights, that's what I'm saying.

That post originally had comments enabled and if they did not want any sort of user input they should not have enabled them at all for that post.

Have you ever made a post and thought "I should leave comments disabled on this" and then forgotten to do it?

This is why the "edit" function exists - to correct mistakes.

Or, maybe they just saw the first few craptastic comments coming through (and the stupid stuff started RIGHT away) and said "hell, we don't need that for THIS issue. ENOUGH MACROS."

I love how we, as users, are allowed to make mistakes or change our minds as much as we want, but LJ and the HUMANS that run it aren't allowed the same "luxury".
