100 Day Plan

Two weeks ago we announced a 100 Day Plan for LiveJournal, Inc. The team are getting their teeth into this now. Here are just a few of the things that we're working on:

This is something that would show a significant improvement in the way LJ treats its users:

Opt-in is put in place by the competent.
Opt-out is put in place by scoundrels.

And site scheme changes (in fact, please give us back all the original options for site schemes, including Xcolibur, right on the scheme choice page). And rich text editor changes (i.e. we should still be able to have the plain text editor be the default, and should never be forced to use the rich text editor).

Please make all these things that change the user experience completely opt-in and optional.

I'm fairly sure that's possible? At least, I know I only ever see the plain text editor. It's been years and I can't remember where the setting was, but it's there somewhere.

It's currently possible. My concern is that after the rich text editor is "improved", it'll become the default or only option.

I er most certainly hope not. Considering LJ's geeky userbase, that would be a really stupid move.
