Any word on why there is interest censoring?

That was going to be my question too. It rather looks like the new LiveJournal, Inc is following the Six Apart model of communication with LJ users.

My hope is that this was in the works prior to the handoff; I am hoping we can pin this on 6A as well, in the interest of consolidating our problems.

This isn't actually new, as far as I know; this interest blocking has been happening for a while. I first encountered it about 1-2 months ago, I think.

Don't blame LJ, Inc. for these things. It's annoying and silly, but it's not something new.

SUP just bought LJ last week. The structure, employees, and policies of LJ are more or less the same now as they were a month ago. I doubt SUP has been able to exert any more influence since the purchase than they had from their previous partnership, or for LJ Inc to change dislikable practices that 6A may have begun. This isn't going to be like the movies, where the new boss walks into the office and fires half the people on a whim.

Change takes time; it is certainly too early to say "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" right now.

This is true. We will post about the process as we get new people, get our own office, and as the policies are re-evaluated by any new higher-ups.

That's why they've created a 100-day plan - by early March we can look back and see what changes have been made and what it all looks like.

I just posted in a thread above yours - I'll repost my reply here too:

(I know you're not blaming them, just wanted to make sure people knew.)

I'd like to hear an answer or at least acknowledgment on this as well. It's very disappointing. It's not going to make LJ "safer" -- it's just going to limit users and drive more people away.

It is important to be able to search about genocide for education purposes, to learn about it, to never forget the atrocities that occurred, or are occurring.

And, it's important to be able to search for the Spice Girls, because it's like their comeback tour !!!OMGWTFBBQ!!!1!.

LiveJournal, you're not our damned parents, please stop trying to be.
