It seems like corporate types look at MySpace, see an enormous money-making machine, and say, "Hey, we should make LJ more like MySpace!"

And they have. Dear God, they have.

I hope LiveJournal Inc. realizes that some of us are on LJ specifically because we hate MySpace.

I totally agree.

Those widgets things on Facebook are obnoxious and I swear, if I start getting requests to become a fucking Werewolf on LJ as well, someone is going to die.

What I don't think the companies really comprehend is that people choose different sites for different purposes. I don't blog on MySpace, I don't run a Street Team on LJ. Swamping an existing website with features just to steal the userbase of other online communities is fucking idiotic.

Stick to what you're good at (or, used to be good at, before 6A fucked it up for everyone) and focus on improving the usability of known functions - don't bastardise the unwanted bullshit from everywhere else!

Yeah, I don't have a Fakebook nor a MySpaz exactly because I don't want one!

Ditto. Facebook and myspace are crap, I have one of each but rarely use either of them. I like livejournal because the content is actually interesting and meaningful, not just random people trying to hook up with each other or stalk their exs or whatever.

I agree. I love LJ specifically because it's not like those other sites, and I'm not constantly bombarded by ridiculous features. I'm here to blog and communicate with my friends in a journal style. I already have a Facebook and a MySpace, and I don't need another one.

One of the greatest things about lj is that I can have a reasonably intelligent blog about real life issues without having to thwart the teeny boppers in trying to explain why I have adult related posts in my blog. I hope that this truly doesn't become another myspace because while that is ok (imo) for socializing, when crap hits the fan, I always come to lj to be able to vent in an adult manner. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE ADULT NATURE OF THIS SITE MODERATORS!!

I agree. Rating is not enforced by law yet, and to make us rate our own journals gives me the impression of no privacy. Another thing is the search engine. This is a blogging site, where people keep journals. If they want to let others know where their journals are, they would have already done so. This is not a networking site, and I do not want to be found by my acquaintances or friends. I've been with Livejournal for over six years. Please, before you go and change the whole site around, feel out the dynamics of it. Respect what others appreciate.

>>This is not a networking site, and I do not want to be found by my acquaintances or friends.

Now are results of search by Russian search engine on your user name:
http://blogs.yandex.ru/search.xml?how=tm&rd=2&text=mystic_life

one out of four,

and on my user name: http://blogs.yandex.ru/search.xml?link=http%3A%2F%2Fporuchik-sr.livejournal.com%2F&fast=no

724 links.

Do you know why? It is because I am Russian and my account attached to the SUP monitoring system. It is done without my permission, and I cannot do a thing about it.
Very soon you will have the same.
