The friends page has been redesigned as a system page for all users

WHY? Thing is: If I wanted to be on a site where everything looks the same for everybody, I'd be more on Tumblr or FaceBook. I'm here on LJ because I like customising. Customising my journal, customising my friends page. I PAID for that! And now you're taking it away? That is so not cool, LJ. I want this to be an opt out thing, not something you force on us just because you don't give a fuck about your customers, as usual.

They took our paid account money, got drunk, paid a donkey to shit on the site and then released it as an improvement.

Thanks LJ team. You're always looking for ways to piss us off and that sort of behaviour is what's driving everyone away to other social media sites and not luring anyone new to Lj.

I agree with this too. I wanted a Paid Account to be able to customise my journal, I have troubles reading anything on a white backgroud, so I love the option to view every journals and communities in my own dark style.

As a PAID account user for over ten years, I will NOT keep paying for LJ if this change is forced upon us.

I really need to find a way to backup all my posts on LJ.

I don't want to be the one screaming "Yaaay Dreamwidth" from the rooftops, but they do have a free import option, which might come in handy for you- They'll grab not only posts, but also comments, and post them on an account you make there, properly dated and all. You'll lose icons in the imported comments, and any links to other threads and posts on LJ will still link back to the posts on LiveJournal rather than rearranging to find the corresponding ones imported to DW, though.

If DW isn't your thing, that's also cool, of course. But it could make for a handy emergency backup and interim post-host, in case things go south here super quickly. That's really all I've been using it for, myself.

Since they'll cancel paid accounts next year, I doubt they care about paying users anymore :/
