Same here! Reading text on a bright background gives me an excruciating headache that meds will not touch. That's why I customize my journal pages to be darker so that I can read everything without subjecting myself to pain. Really, LJ?? I can't and won't deal with this. I used to be a paid member but having a paid account wasn't any better than a plus one, so I downgraded. If you force these changes on us, I will be finding another place to use. Thanks for letting YOUR USERS choose what they want! Big time FAIL.
This exactly. I have all my pages custom CSS so I can have grey on black or red on black because any bright colours will trigger migraines for me. if it's forced on me, I probably won't leave, but I'll have to use browser overrides, which is a pain in the ass.
Same problem here but they just don't care one bit. I've been complaining about migraines all over the place when they introduced the new comments pages and they didn't acknowledge it one freaking single time.
They don't give a crap if they make their users physically ill.
This really is a problem for some of us, LJ. Those who are sensitive to different light wave lengths need to be able to personalize and control how they can use LJ. Otherwise, it's pointless. I'm a permanent user currently, but frankly, I already have an account over on Dreamwidth ready to go if you continue this path of self destruction. Already many of my friends have jumped ship. Stop and think about what you're doing to your customers.
I agree completely. It is unusable. I was lucky in that I switched back to the old version before I got triggered but it was close. When that's no longer an option I'll definitely be jumping ship and that's despite having a permanent account.
I thought most companies were going out of their way to be inclusive of people with illnesses and/or disabilities. LJ appear to be doing the opposite by removing the ability to customise the colours to make pages accessible. What do they have against us differently abled people?
This is the top reason I didn't even look. The minute I knew it would be site scheme styled, it would be an eye-searing migraine trigger. Without Stylish, I wouldn't even be able to reply to comments on this page...
Seconded. There's a reason all my custom layouts have sepia backgrounds where the text is.
Seriously guys, is there ANY actual point to this release? Do you not realise that three quarters of your paid users are paid for the customisable layouts and the extra icons?
The Firefox add-on Color That Site! is pretty useful for changing colour schemes. No Squint is handy too, but much less sophisticated, and I find it doesn't work all that well on LJ.
Thankfully my LJ gives me the option to avoid the new friends page, so I'm just at the more minor level of grousing about the line that's wasted by suggesting that I switch to the new friends page.
White I don't get headaches from white backgrounds, I do find dark backgrounds more comfortable to read.
That's how I have my journal set at the moment - so-dark-a-blue-it's-almost-black, with so-pale-yellow-it's-almost-white text. I also have Fanfiction.net set so I read fics in white text on a dark grey background and kinda wish they'd find a way to that on AO3 as well.
I would be slightly happier if they at least told us the new layout would come with customisable colours, but only slightly, because I rather like my classic Generator style layout.
So much fail.

Plus the tabs at the side block text.
I don't mind the change, as long as it's use stays optional. And even then, make it more customizable.

Exactly this. I don't have enough pills to make that shit readable.
