This has the possibility of being a very welcome improvement. However, based on past experience with these "improvements" in general, I shudder thinking of all the ways this can go wrong ...

For example, everything under What will happen to my Scrapbook images? - no tagging, no image in multiple galleries, and no videos. Really?

There is currently no tagging system in the new photohosting service, so tags you have created in Scrapbook will not be copied to the new service.

Seriously? No tags? :(

This is seriously going to turn my 29 galleries of 100s of pic into BROWSING CHAOS.

Looks like they'll be saving the tags during migration and adding the interface later: http://ruljautonews.livejournal.com/19142.html

The old Scrapbook is rather cumbersome so I'm crossing my fingers that this works out with a minimal amount of pain for all concerned!

we're overhauling our photohosting service

Does that mean the developers/programmers are still working on the features or is everything finished? Because there seems to be no way to sort anything anymore, which is pretty important if you have a lot of images.

After launch, the priority for developers will be to make sure everything that's part of the initial launch works as intended. Beyond that, yes, the service will continue to be developed and have new features added to it over time.

Well, for those of us who already switched it's probably over, but maybe you can avoid the big outcry of desperation from everyone else by at least adding tags, if not more ways to sort images, to the features before launch...

Because, y'know, the new Scrapbook looks damn cool, but if important features are removed, people will only talk about that. (And for good reasons, mind you.)

I'm sorry, what about deleting more than one photo from the gallery simultaneously?

Scrapbook is cumbersome and usually takes forever to load, but

There is currently no tagging system in the new photohosting service, so tags you have created in Scrapbook will not be copied to the new service.

The new version does not currently allow images to exist in multiple galleries. If you have an image which exists in multiple galleries, it will placed in the first gallery which the image is associated with.

That means the galleries will be IMPOSSIBLE to sort and filled with duplicates. So at that level it's going to be even harder to use than it is now! Why are you guys releasing this without the ability to tag?
