Oh my gosh! It's a post from Lizzy! With how rarely I post anything here, you'd think I'd forgotten I could do that. But no, I just never post entries because I never have anything to write about, not publicly, But thanks to a mid-afternoon nap and phone call at an opportune time, my brain has retained enough of the dream I just had to post here. So here it is, in all of its glory.

Had a dream that I was doing something with Amy's family in the minivan, camping or something. Then the volcano that was not that far away started erupting. Like a cinder cone with some ash and some oompf behind the explosions. It was so vivid I no longer feel the need to be close enough to an active volcano to get that experience. Oh, I was swimming before that. Snorkeling with sunfish, and I loved it, because the water was amazing, and one of the sunfish followed around one of my companions like a dog and offered him presents that he found on the inlet's floor, like a ribbon and bow from a birthday gift. At one point I was chasing after tucans, who were going to dominate the world? I think? And the sunfish were really huge. Before that I was playing with monkeys who bit my hands like cats, and I was worried about getting AIDS. There were other animals around too. I think they monkeys kept trying to steal something and i couldn't chase them away.
After the volcano started going we hopped in the car super quick, and had to escape. Just Amy and me at first, and we drove the van a ways before her parents caught up. Rather mean to do, to think of it now. It was hard to breathe and not everything could fit in. We had to take a detour through a driveway and garage and the car almost got stuck. We made it close to the bottom, but not all the way. We stopped at a house cuz I wanted to video the eruption, so I tried from the driveway of this house, but a mom and child stopped me and wanted me to only buy and use their camera (disposable gray film). I told them that I wanted to do video but they insisted I only use theirs. Finally I worked out a deal where I could film from this abandoned house that was next to theirs, or not because they were trying to preserve it from the last time a volcano went off, so I tried filming from their property. Got out my tripod which they thought was so cool. Teachers always have tripods with them, you know. I told them I actually DID need the video because I'm an earth science teacher, dammit. The dad had a tool vest on. It was for volcano emergencies that all residents in the area had. While filming I had a hard time finding the active cinder cone, because it didn't actually make a column of black ash, but just sputtered out lava rocks and a little bit of reddish dust that stuck close to the peak. It made it hard to spot at first and at one point I accidentally filmed a neighbor in a muddy flow on the roof of their house. Suddenly the volcano started erupting more. There was another cinder cone, and another! And right in front of their house! Which was now on the beach rather than the foot or sides of a foresty mountain.
I went to dinner with some people, it was really fancy, but at first we sat at an un-bussed table by mistake at first, and then at ours. And there was weird food that kept being taken away before I could eat it. And they didn't eat the appetizer that was froth in the paint-shape of food. I left, and went back to the beach, but then came back with another guy, who was really nice and told me that he got my diploma for me. I cried and said how!?! But then I knew that it was through NPB*. And I told him I wanted cell bio, but he said NPB was like the same thing. And then I knew he was a bad guy, deceiving me, and we were not destined to be together. It was another dinner at the first table. The table was tilting and I couldn't get food.
I went back to the family at the beach, or maybe it was Amy's family, and they were happy to see me, but I could see that they hadn't cleaned up the dirt from the volcano, that it was all a ruse, and that I was still in the van. When they realized I knew, they were sad, but didn't try to hurt me. I was at the beach, and I realized there were gigantic chameleons all over in fluorescent colors, yellow polka dots and pinks, sniffing each other like dogs. And I jumped down the wall onto one, and it was frightening and it tried to get me. I ran and saw more, and then came back to the house. And there was another large man barbecuing some of those chameleons and I said something he found ridiculous. I realized everything around me was a lie and that these people were all robots. I asked him what year it was, and he said "325" meaning 325 years into my future. I was completely overwhelmed and sad. And then I woke up.
